Jeanne L. Ballard MD, author of the New Ballard Score, is Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine, Dr. Ballard has served as director of Nurseries for Bethesda Hospitals and as attending physician for Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University Hospital of Cincinnati. Dr. Ballard received her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and her fellowship in neonatology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

View ArticleDr. Jeanne Ballard founded the Lactation Education Resource Center in 1997 while working out of the Division of General and Community Pediatrics. She also established and directed the associated Breastfeeding Medicine Clinic, which specializes in a dyad approach: seeing both the breastfeeding mother and the breastfed infant at one clinic visit. She put together an outline as a guide to establishing a breastfeeding medicine center.
